This is Part 4 of a four-part series on trauma and dissociation.  Each part of the series is a stand-alone training, but in it’s entirety the series will deepen the participant’s knowledge of assessing and treating trauma and dissociation in children and adolescents.  In Part 4, the focus will be on educating and supporting parents and caregivers of children and adolescents with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Dissociative Disorders.

Upon concluding this course, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct parent or caregiver consultations that effectively educate about the impact of trauma and dissociation on children 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources for parents and caregivers
  • Discuss strategies for parent/caregiver self-care and clinician self-care

 

Karen Sullivan, LCSW-S, RPT-S, EMDR Approved Consultant, is a graduate of UH – GCSW.  She began her career as a caseworker and supervisor at CPS in  Sexual Abuse units.  She then worked as a therapist at advocacy centers in both Harris and Fort Bend Counties. In the last 13 years of private practice, Karen continues to specialize in trauma, grief, sexual assault, and attachment.  She frequently testifies on these matters in both civil and criminal courts.
