Relationship Therapy is an art form, and requires a different skill set than individual therapy. This course will provide an overview of relationship therapy and how different models approach this challenging work. We'll review some of the leading Couples Therapy models: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, The Gottman Method and the Developmental Model. Case studies will be reviewed, along with opportunities to practice skills through role play. The only pre-requisite is an interest in working with couples, polycules and relationships in it's many variations.

Upon concluding this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 3 models of relationship therapy
  • Identify key characteristics of a skilled relationship therapist
  • Identify 4 orientations of attachment theory
  • Identify introductory strategies for addressing infidelity and other breaches of trust
